
Prof Pieter von Wielligh is the interim dean of the Economic Management Sciences faculty, where the Africa Centre for Inclusive Health Management is located. He is a professor of auditing and the director and vice-dean (ex officio) of the SU School of Accountancy. He holds several qualifications: BAcc Honours (cum laude), MAcc, PhD (Accounting)(Stellenbosch), CA(SA).
Pieter has spent many years in practice as a chartered accountant, specialising in financial services and the audits of long-term insurers. Thereafter he moved into academia, where he lectured auditing at undergraduate level and still lectures auditing at postgraduate level. He has published various articles in accredited and popular journals, and has delivered a number of papers at conferences on various aspects of auditing and auditing education. He supervises master’s and doctoral students in the field of auditing and serves on SAICA’s CA 2025 project workgroup that provides guidance for academic programmes.
