René Sparks is a registered clinical nurse practitioner who believes in the importance of integrated, inclusive health management: “My experience having managed programmes at grassroots to national levels has shown me the value of inclusivity. I often felt something was missing from healthcare workers’ training and I believe inclusive health management is exactly it.” René teaches the sexuality and gender inequality PgDip study unit, which forms part of the sociocultural aspects of HIV/Aids module. In her full-time job, she works as public health consultant and director of Health Advocacy & Clinical Compliance South Africa (HACCSA).
René really enjoys running and hiking. She ran an ultramarathon for charity in 2022 and hiked the Fish River Canyon in 2023.
