The Africa Centre for Inclusive Health Management is part of Stellenbosch University, a premier and highly regarded institution of higher education in South Africa, Africa and beyond. The centre is located in the Economic and Management Sciences Faculty, the largest faculty at the university.
Our academic programmes present some of the top HIV/Aids and health management programmes globally and are internationally recognised, opening up global opportunities.
What was to become the Africa Centre was established in 2000 and accepted its first postgraduate diploma students in 2001. This means you can have peace of mind that the centre is well-established and the programmes have been tried and tested for optimal learning outcomes.
Since our multidisciplinary academic programmes are targeted at those involved in the world of work (whether in the formal sector or in community work), the programmes are structured in such a way that they give students the flexibility they need to balance work, family and personal responsibilities.
Our PgDip and master’s programmes are both hybrid programmes, offering a combination of online and in-person learning. Contact teaching takes place on the Stellenbosch University campus twice a year for one week at a time; the rest of the time teaching and assessments are conducted in a hybrid fashion. This means you can enrol wherever you are located. Short courses are also presented via both online and in-person learning.
Our programme curricula are robust and comprehensive, and we continuously revise and update the content to ensure that it remains relevant, applicable and reflective of societal needs.
Our diverse teaching staff include practitioners, researchers and academics from Stellenbosch University and beyond. They are all well-established in their respective fields and bring a wealth of knowledge and experience.
The teaching and learning pedagogy is informed by adult education principles and ethos, given that many of our lecturers are professional practitioners in their fields. This teaching approach facilitates context-specific scenarios that draw on the rich experience and diversity of students and staff.
The Africa Centre has a big footprint on the African continent and to date the students and alumni have been from 25 African countries and 30 countries in the rest of the world.
