Last year we launched the centre’s new name as the Africa Centre for Inclusive Health Management, following a three-year strategic revisioning process. The name encapsulates our expanded vision as we move from focusing on HIV/Aids specifically to addressing health inclusivity comprehensively and sustainably towards an equitable and just society.
As part of our repositioning, we revamped our website to reflect the broader focus on inclusive health management. In the process we took the opportunity to breathe new life into the look and to make our website even more user-friendly and informative.
A simpler structure for easy navigation
We simplified the main navigation by grouping more sections together. This means you can find the information you need quicker.
- About us: Everything you want to know about the Africa Centre: what we do on a daily basis and the mission and vision behind this, the centre’s history, our partnerships with esteemed local and international organisations and why the centre is an excellent choice for obtaining a health management qualification.
- Programmes: This section provides all the important details about our current academic programmes – the postgraduate diploma, master’s and doctoral programme – including the programme content and format and administrative details such as admission requirements. Any new programmes and courses we launch (and we already have some in the pipeline!) will be included in this section. We have incorporated the MPhil study projects page, which showcases the research done by our master’s students, into the Programmes section.
- Study FAQs: All the details you need to make an informed decision about studying with us in one place – and conveniently accessible from the main navigation. This section is based on the common questions and feedback we receive from prospective students. It will help clarify whether studying at the Africa Centre is a feasible option for you and guide you through the application process.
- Team: Learn more about the background and interests of those who contribute to the success and progress of the Africa Centre in one way or another.
- News: We will continue uploading interesting articles about recent developments and events at the Africa Centre and in the field of inclusive health management.
What’s new?
In addition to refining and streamlining the web content to reflect our expanded focus, we have added new pieces of content to showcase the calibre of the Africa Centre – instilling confidence in prospective students and partners – and to provide more comprehensive information that addresses the most common questions.
In the About us section, we have included the story behind the establishment of the Africa Centre in a timeline format. This is the first time we have documented and published how the Africa Centre came into existence. Our history, rooted in combatting the HIV/Aids epidemic in South Africa, remains integral to what we do today, which is why this is such a critical narrative – and we are proud to share it. We have also included a “Why study with us?” page that clearly articulates the benefits of choosing the Africa Centre as your academic partner, both in terms of the quality of the study experience and how it can support you in your current or future career.
The Study FAQs section details all the practicalities of studying with us, including who the programmes are for, the format of the courses and how to apply. It also includes an FAQ section. Should you have a medical background to study health management? Must you be in Stellenbosch to become an Africa Centre student? When do online classes take place? You are trying to apply but you are stuck – what now? When is payment due? Whatever your question, we have the answer. We also provide the relevant contact details of who to contact if you have further queries.
Lastly, the Team section now also features the external lecturers who teach selected PgDip and master’s modules, in addition to permanent staff, research fellows and the governing board members. The external lecturers are carefully selected for their subject expertise, teaching experience and industry insights – and their profiles are testimony to these industry experts’ competence.
Sleek and modern
Apart from the content updates, we have modernised the website’s look and feel in line with Stellenbosch University’s latest brand guidelines. The new clean look also reflects how we have evolved to adapt to a changing global health landscape and to remain innovative and relevant.
