Dr Jeanine Uwimama, external lecturer

Jeannine Uwimama is a public health specialist, with interests in epidemiology and control of infectious disease (including HIV and TB), health policy and systems strengthening, maternal newborn and child health as well as evidence-based public health. She is an honorary associate professor at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of Rwanda and a member of the Health Research Ethics Committee at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Stellenbosch University. 

Jeanine joined the Africa Centre’s external lecturer team in 2024, when she taught the epidemiology module for both the PgDip and MPhil programmes, with a focus on integrated management of HIV and its comorbidities such as TB and non-communicable diseases. From 2025 onwards, she will teach the epidemiology module to MPhil students only. In her free time, Jeanine enjoys reading and going for walks.
