
Takiyah White Ndwanya first became an external lecturer at the Africa Centre in 2019 and has taught several PgDip and MPhil courses over the years, including health economics, qualitative research methodology and the epidemiology of HIV/Aids. She is currently an ethics reviewer and provides supervision to MPhil students. Over 20 MPhil students have graduated under her supervision since 2019.
Takiyah works for universities and non-profit organisations as an epidemiologist, researcher and adjunct professor via her consulting company. She specialises in infectious diseases, primarily HIV/Aids and sexually transmitted infections. Before starting her business, Takiyah worked with diverse populations and environments across the USA and South Africa, enabling her to gain valuable insights on inclusive health management.
Philanthropic work is Takiyah’s foremost personal interest and in 2012, she started a non-profit organisation with her mother to assist and support students in her home country of the USA as well as in South Africa.
